The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) has confirmed Merron Gordon as its interim head coach when the senior men’s national team travels to Austria for a four-nation tournament later this month.
Gordon will be assisted by Vassell Reynolds.
The Reggae Boyz will also face Morocco, Qatar, and Ghana — three teams participating in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar this November. This tournament, however, runs from August 20 to 26, outside of the Fifa international window.
Gordon, normally the Reggae Boyz’s assistant coach, takes the role as Paul Hall, who has been the team’s head coach since December, has coaching obligations at Queens Park Rangers (QPR) in the English Football Championship, and is not available outside of the international window. QPR are two games into their new season, which started on July 31.
Hall, who was appointed on an interim basis after the dismissal of Theodore Whitmore, is still awaiting a permanent contract from the JFF, and it is reported that a permanent long-term deal could be agreed on by the end of the month.
The JFF has also announced its 23-man squad for the trip to Austria.
Squad — Kemar Foster (Waterhouse), Amal Knight (Harbour View), Eric Edwards (Arnett Gardens), Colorado Murray (Harbour View), Trayvone Reid (Harbour View), Ricardo Thomas (Waterhouse), Ky-Mani Campbell (Waterhouse), Richard King (Cavalier), Dennis Taylor (Humble Lion), Denardo Thomas (Waterhouse), Demario Phillips (Dunbeholden), Fabion McCarthy (Dunbeholden), Nickoy Christian (Dunbeholden), Ramone Howell (Waterhouse), Ronaldo Webster (Cavalier), Dwayne Atkinson (Cavalier), Jourdaine Fletcher (Gokulam Kerala), Maliek Howell (University of Memphis), Earl Simpson (Arnett Gardens), Jahshaun Anilin (Harbour View), Odane Pennycooke (Tivoli Gardens), Tarick Ximines (Mount Pleasant), Alwayne Harvey (Mount Pleasant).
